QingMing

about

QingMing is a traditional Chinese custom, set aside for people to honor the dead. In 2020, QingMing becomes specially important during Covid-19 pandemic. Every one of us is quarantined at home. It’s impossible for us to gather and pay tribute to the deceased, specially to those who have passed away because of Covid-19. So I collaborated with Jiabao Li and Huiyi Chen to create an online space for people to gather and pay tribute to the victims of Covid-19.

Each person who visits the website will leave a trail. All the trails together,  in front of Hongshan Auditorium in Wuhan, the place where the “Two Sessions” of Hubei were held in January 2020, they form an online monument for the dead, a symbol of remembering and resilience.

Development

I created the interactive interface and dynamic structures of the monument for the website in Three.js. The shapes and movements of the trails come from No59, No60, No63 of my future sketches series.
